Your Input on Three Outer Harbor Plans Is Needed — August 6

Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation announced that it will hold two open houses, seeking public input of three possible plans for Buffalo’s Outer Harbor. If you feel like we do, that creating an exciting and significant park is the best use of this site, we urge you to attend the open houses being led by ECHDC and Perkins+Will. Please invite to attend your friends, family, colleagues, and anyone else who shares concern about accessibility to our waterfront, sustainability, economic development, the environment, climate change, recreation, clean air, and social justice.

The three plans were designed using input received from the people who participated in the three meetings last month. The public now has the opportunity to review the plans and score them. Each open house will begin with a presentation. The presentation will provide a summary and analysis of the feedback from the first three meetings, a synthesis of the feedback into a framework approach to developing concept alternatives, and a presentation of the three alternative concepts. The second part of the open house will provide an opportunity for the public to review, rate, and ask questions about the concepts.

We sincerely hope you will be able to attend so that officials and planners will witness the overwhelming desire of our residents for an exciting neighborhood and regional amenity for Buffalo and WNY!  Frederick Law Olmsted said in 1888 it was inevitable that one day Buffalo would finally have a lakefront park. This is our second chance.
